All aboard! The New Freedom Railroad Station Museum will open Saturday, May 7, for the 2016 season.
It will remain open every Saturday through Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will also be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays, through Sept. 25; 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, June 8 and 22 and July 13 and 27; and 1 to 5 p.m. Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
The station was restored to its 1940s appearance in 2003. It was initially built in the mid-1860s by the Northern Central Railway, then rebuilt in 1885 and enlarged to its current size in 1910. York County currently owns the building, which is also home to the New Freedom Rail Trail Cafe.
